Paul was stuck in a cycle of emotional eating that resulted in him reaching an unhealthy 289 pounds and, even though he put on a smiling facade, he was unhappy. “I couldn’t be active with my children at all, I was afraid for my health and knew I had to do something,” he recalls.
After seeking out Motivate,it took Paul less a than a year to lose 126lbs! Along with his healthy weight loss, his energy levels have soared and he now regularly plays football with his kids. The transformation has been so dramatic, he was advised by airport police to get a new passport because they could no longer recognize him from the photo in his existing one!
Following a hysterectomy that required ten months of recovery time—including being restricted to no exercise—Siobhán found herself piling on the pounds which led her to seek out the Motivate program in order to get back into a healthy place. You have to work at it. It got me back exercising again and in January of this year I took up running. Now I compete in races almost every weekend and just recently completed my first Half Marathon. In October 2015 I will conquer the Dublin City Marathon, hopefully the first of many marathons for me.”

After losing her mother and best friend in 2009, Ciara Clarke sought the comfort of food to cushion the pain of her grief. After gaining a significant amount of weight, Ciara found herself unhealthy, unfit and unhappy: “I thought I was okay, but I wasn’t,” Ciara recalls. Having heard of Motivate’s reputation through word-of-mouth, when she saw an advertisement for Motivate, she knew it was the right program and something she wanted to pursue: “I wanted to lose my weight, but more importantly I wanted to feel better about myself and understand the reasons why I was eating the wrong foods, so in the future I could keep my weight off.” So she made the call.
Born premature, Dylan Byrne’s parents wanted to make sure their baby gained weight in order to be a strong and healthy child. In an attempt to make sure he had enough food, his weight eventually became excessive and by the age of 15 Dylan weighed 217 lbs and maintained a dangerously high BMI of 34. He hit an all-time low when ordering his new school uniform and discovered that he needed 48-inch waist pants. Dylan’s parents were acutely aware that the future was starting to look bleak. Unlike many people who try to turn a blind eye to the health risks of obesity, Dylan and his mother, Heather, understood the problem on their hands and were motivated to make whatever changes were necessary to establish a brighter future for Dylan.
Through his early childhood experiences of bullying, Anthony learned to use eating as a means of coping with the challenges of life for over 35 years. Over the course of his life, Anthony’s insecurities, distrust and negative self-talk became magnified into adulthood—until he started Motivate. Anthony recalls, “My advisor at Motivate did a full consultation with me and then broke the news to me … I was a ‘reward eater’, a pattern which I developed to help deal with life’s experiences.”
